Dr. Vining graduated with a BA in Classics, Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude, from the College of the Holy Cross She received her medical degree from Yale University and was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical School Honor Society. She remained at Yale New Haven Hospital to complete her internship in General Surgery and residency in Otorhinolaryngology. She further dedicated herself to her specialty by completing a fellowship in Sinus and Skull Base Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.


Dr. Vining is the Associate Chief of Otorhinolaryngology at Yale New Haven Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Section of Otorhinolaryngology at Yale University School of Medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. She is Past-President of the Medical Board of Yale New Haven Hospital (2018-2020) The Connecticut State Ear, Nose, and Throat Society (2006,) and currently is serving her second term on the Board of Trustees of Yale New Haven Hospital (2020-present.) At Yale New Haven Hospital she is currently serving on the Credentials Committee, Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Committee, and Late Career Practitioner Committee. She is an active member of the American Rhinologic Society , The North American Skull Base Society, and the American College of Surgeons. She served as the Historian of the American Rhinologic Society from 2003-2021.


Dr. Vining specializes in the treatment of sinus conditions and is regarded professionally as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of sinus disorders and sinus and skull base tumors in both adults and children. She lectures frequently at specialty conferences, most notably on endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery.


Dr. Vining has been elected by her peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® consecutively from 1996 to present.
