Hearing loss is a condition that can occur at any age and i’s often caused by a variety of factors that can either be temporary or permanent. Whether you’re experiencing ear wax build-up, an ear infection, or even a neurological disorder, our experts can provide expert care.
Meniere’s disease is a permanent disorder that affects your inner ear, leading to hearing loss and vertigo (or dizzy spells). It usually affects one ear and can happen at any age—usually between young and middle-aged adults. Treatment focuses on minimizing symptoms and addressing long-term impacts.
Earaches and ear infections tend to go hand-in-hand and are more common in children than adults. While ear infections are a common cause of earaches, they can also be caused by sinus issues, strep throat, and even wax buildup.
Otosclerosis is a rare condition that leads to hearing loss. It occurs when a small bone in the middle ear (often called the stapes) is stuck in place. It usually occurs when the surrounding tissue grows differently around the stapes.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a common cause of vertigo and usually occurs when the crystals in the part of your ear responsible for monitoring your head’s movements (the otolith organs) are dislodged.
Tympanoplasty is a surgical procedure that focuses on repairing a defect (or hole) in the tympanic membrane—usually with a graft. The purpose of this surgery is to fix the hole and improve hearing. Doctors will only resort to this technique if nonsurgical methods are ineffective.
